The BBC Symphony Orchestra is hiring an Orchestra Personnel Manager.

You will be responsible to the Orchestra Manager for the scheduling of the staff players, for the management of all contracts and personnel systems within the Orchestra and for ensuring that the required complement of musicians is provided for each session. You will work closely with the Concerts Management Team to ensure the smooth running of each session, providing back-stage support at concerts and other events both in the UK and abroad. You will be required to assist the Orchestra Manager with the day to day management of the Orchestra and with the line-management of the staff players and provide line-management support for the Orchestra and Tours Assistant.

To be successful in this role, you will have a strong desire to work in the professional orchestral environment. You will ideally have significant proven experience as an orchestral fixer in a professional environment and previous experience of managing concerts and recording sessions. The ability to understand and interpret orchestrations, a knowledge of orchestral contracts, agreements and working practices and knowledge and experience of the professional freelance orchestral environment are all key to this role.

You will need the ability to make decisions under pressure and work accurately to deadlines, with good attention to detail. You will need the ability to work effectively as part of a small, dedicated team and have excellent IT, verbal and written communication skills with a good level of numeracy. You will have excellent interpersonal skills with a professional and flexible approach to work. You will also be required to commit to working irregular and unsocial hours as required by the orchestra.
