Crash Ensemble present Glassworks by Philip Glass | Donegal
Following the triumphant Irish premiere of Philip Glass' iconic Glassworks at MusicTown 2023 and the eagerly anticipated, sold-out performance at the Kilkenny Arts Festival, Crash Ensemble is delighted to announce a national tour of Glassworks.
The ensemble will perform this groundbreaking work live at the Regional Cultural Centre in Letterkenny on October 4th, Mermaid Arts Centre in Bray on October 6th, and Lime Tree Theatre in Limerick on October 15th.
Composed in 1981, Glassworks represents Philip Glass’ innovative fusion of minimalism and pop, characterized by its infectious hooks and classical structure. The work quickly became one of Glass' most celebrated compositions.
“a virtuosic and moving performance...”
- The Journal of Music on Crash Ensemble’s performance of Glassworks (MusicTown 2023)
Originally conceived as a studio recording, Glassworks was released in 1982 on CBS Records, alongside legendary artists such as Frank Sinatra and Bruce Springsteen.
