Re:Voicing the Flute, an Irish Perspective

An exploration of the imaginative approach of Irish Composers to Flute writing, with Emma Coulthard - Flutes/Voice and David Adams Piano. This programme features world premieres of John McLachalan's 'Isola' for Flute and Piano (Arts Council of Ireland Music Commission) and the Joycean Frank Corcoran's 'It soared, a bird, a swift pure cry' for Tin Whistle, Flute, Alto Flute, Piccolo and Piano. Irish premiers of the following works for Flute and Electronics - 'Planxty' by Fergus Johnston, 'Glss.Rndr'. Anna Murray/Emma Coulthard, 'This be the Sound' Grainne Mulvey and 'Echo Chatterbox' a micro opera by Paul Hayes, for Singing Flautist. John Buckley's 'Boireann' for Flute and Piano will provide a dramatic addition to complete the evening.
