BMS International Festival of Chamber Music
Northern Ireland’s premier chamber music event, presenting top international classical musicians alongside outstanding local artists in three days of world-class concerts and recitals.
This year’s lineup includes the Dudok Quartet Amsterdam, rising stars from Europe; pianist Gabriela Montero, renowned for her improvisations as well as her interpretations of classical repertoire; former BBC Young Musician prizewinner, cellist Laura van der Heijden, with Katya Apekisheva; and a dazzling trio of soloists – Adam Walker (flute), Hélène Clément (viola) and Agnès Clément (harp), playing Debussy, Ravel and a BMS-commissioned work from Irish composer Rhona Clarke.
There’s something for everyone, including the youngest audiences. ‘Chamber Babies’ offers short, informal concerts for babies up to 18 months old and their mums and dads in the Crescent Arts Centre, presented by local professional musicians Elaine Pelan and Graínne Meyer (voice/harp). In another harp-focused event, Belfast-based harpist Tanya Houghton presents a chamber masterclass with students from DIT.
The main concerts take place in Queen’s University’s Great Hall. The masterclass and a student showcase recital are in QUB's Harty Room (entrance on University Square).* Free parking is available at QUB from Friday evening onwards at the rear of the Harty Room building.
