Arts and Heritage Collections Officer

Thursday, 16 March 2023, 4.30pm

The Belfast Health and Social Care Trust (BHSCT) is seeking to appoint an Arts and Heritage Collections Officer to join their Arts in Health Team, which is a part of the Public Health Team at the Royal Victoria Hospital site. The post holder will be responsible for leading and managing an improvement project to document and manage the Trust’s collection of art and heritage.

The BHSCT recognises its responsibility as a guardian of artwork and heritage relating to healthcare in Belfast, Northern Ireland, and beyond. The main objective of this role is to maximise the wellbeing benefits for staff, patients, service users, and the wider public through increased engagement with the collections. The successful candidate will work closely with a range of services across the Trust, including Arts in Health, Estates, Capital Development, and Patient & Client Support Services, as well as partner organisations.

The Arts and Heritage Collections Officer will develop a plan to address the Trust’s needs and priorities in relation to the collections and act as a driving force for partnership working to deliver the plan. Additionally, they will contribute to the delivery of the Trust’s Arts in Health Strategy 2019-24 and act as an advocate and champion for the BHSCT Art and Heritage Collections and the potential wellbeing benefits for the healthcare and wider community. They will encourage the involvement of Trust services with the arts and heritage collections in their area and engage them in related activities and initiatives.

This appointment represents an exciting opportunity to work in a challenging and rewarding environment and make a positive impact on the wellbeing of staff, patients, and the wider community through the arts and heritage collections.
