The Royal Academy of Music is seeking a seeking to appoint a Your Academy Assistant (Internship) for the Widening Participation Department of the Academy. This role will be an opportunity to learn about development and managing of access projects and programmes, aimed at increasing the ethnic and economic diversity of the student body. The role will be working largely with the Access and Participation Manager, but connecting with colleagues in Junior Academy, (the Saturday pre-18 music provision programme) and Open Academy (which facilitates connections between the student body and the wider community).

Duties range from dealing with queries from staff, schools and external partners, answering general telephone and email enquiries, to co-ordinating setup for workshops and projects, hosting online projects and events, and supporting in-person projects. Current activities include Percussion, Composers, Jazz and Mentor Club, Community First String Experience and Musical Theatre Junior Academy.

To be successful in this role you will need be able to demonstrate a clear interest in the principles of access and participation within music provision and a commitment to developing opportunities for children and young people to increase their exposure to music and musicianship. As an internship the Academy is also looking for someone with administration experience and an aspiration to develop a career in music and cultural sector, this would also be an ideal opportunity for someone looking for their first role.
