Creative Places Tuam Call for Artists

Creative Places Tuam Call for Artists

Wednesday, 3 June 2020, 5.00pm

Creative Places Tuam is seeking applications from artists connected to the Tuam area whose collaborative socially engaged practice has been disrupted due to the COVID 19 restrictions.

Collaborative practice is relational. The work develops because of direct and often durational encounters between artists and communities of interest and place.

We recognise the challenge posed to artists continuing collaborative projects in a time of physical distancing and the urgent demands on community development and civil society organisations to focus on immediate service provision. We are therefore offering artists connected to the Tuam area who engage in collaborative socially engaged or place based practice an opportunity to take time to recalibrate their work. To explore and test meaningful ways to continue to connect and collaborate with their communities of interest and place.

In recognition of the severe limitations in place due to physical distancing and the challenges this poses to artists and their practice we are offering 3 awards of €3,000 each to support the creation of methodologies of practice, reflective ways of thinking and creative means of communication with communities. We envision the duration of this bursary to be between 3 and 6 months. The Creative Places Tuam Artist Bursary is open to all artforms.

Deadline: 5.00pm, Wednesday 3rd June 2020
