Cassiopeia Winds 2021 Tour

Cassiopeia Winds 2021 Tour

Sunday, 26 September 2021, 12.00pm

Cassiopeia Winds was founded in 2010 by five friends with a desire to dive into the glorious repertoire of wind chamber music of the past 250 years. At its heart is a quintet of players whose members are among the finest in the country. Their performances are marked by sensitivity and virtuosity. Their passion, idiosyncratic humour and their sheer joy of performing together is shared by their audience.

Wind quintet music is wonderfully diverse, lively music. It is music for all age groups – music that will raise the spirits and send the audience home smiling.

Covid-19 has made the last 18 months a very difficult time for everyone and Cassiopeia Winds, who thrive on performing, are excited and delighted to be able to perform together again for a live audience.

The programme includes TWO WORLD PREMIERS: Jonathan Nangle: The Sun hovered briefly on the horizon and Adele O’Dwyer: Three Chromatic Miniatures. Also on the programme Alexander von Zemlinsky: Humoreske (Rondo), W A Mozart: Adagio & Allegro, Valerie Coleman: Red Clay & Mississippi Delta, Amy Beach: Pastorale and Luciano Berio: Opus Number Zoo
