Cover Musicians (Strings)

Monday, 18 November 2019, 10.00am

ig Noise Raploch (Stirling) and Big Noise Govanhill (Glasgow) are looking for Cover Musicians (Strings) to work as part of a dynamic team delivering a visionary, socially driven children’s orchestra centre.

This pioneering programme drew its initial inspiration from El Sistema in Venezuela and our vision is to transform lives with music. We deliver on our vision through the creation of Big Noise programmes within communities. Since its inception in 2007, the programme has grown and developed into a multi - faceted and immersive music education and social development programme which uses the orchestra as a learning community. We currently run programmes in Raploch (Stirling), Govanhill (Glasgow), Torry (Aberdeen) and Douglas (Dundee).

By growing children’s orchestras in urban priority areas our mission is to transform children’s lives with music, empower communities and grow future orchestras.

Cover Musicians enable us to continue our core delivery when Musicians are on leave or are unwell. They also help greatly in the build up to important events when we need extra support to fully prepare the children.

Cover Musicians are required to carry out a variety of roles including supporting or leading sessions, supervising children in the break times and setting up and packing away the orchestras.

Cover Musicians are offered work as and when required by Sistema Scotland on a self-employed basis. There is no obligation for Sistema Scotland to offer Cover Musicians work, or for Cover Musicians to accept any work offered to them. Fees are £25 per hour for the first 2 hours and £20 per hour thereafter.
