The People’s Requiem

The People’s Requiem

Sunday, 28 November 2021, 4.00pm

Operatic passion, religious grandiosity, and powerful emotions are all hallmarks of Verdi’s Requiem – one of the most iconic pieces of classical music of all time. From the unstoppable force of the Dies Irae to the hushed finale, it captures the imagination like little else.

Marking a return to large-scale music making, and in memory of those who have lost their lives to Covid-19, this performance features a massed orchestra and choir, comprised of Royal Northern Sinfonia, Chorus of Royal Northern Sinfonia, and over 200 musicians from the North East community. Following several months of rehearsals – both online and in person – join us for a performance of which the North East can be proud, in the splendour of Sage One.

Please note there will be no interval.
