Fidelio Trio Winter Chamber Music Festival 2022

Friday, 25 November 2022, 7.30pm

GlasDrum, a north Dublin voluntary organisation dedicated to bringing high quality arts events to Glasnevin and Drumcondra, reunites with Music at Dublin City University (DCU) to present the Fidelio Trio Winter Chamber Music Festival 2022. This three-day event runs from Friday November 25th to Sunday November 27th in Belvedere House, St Patrick’s Campus, DCU and the National Botanic Gardens, Glasnevin.

Fidelio Trio — Darragh Morgan (violin), Tim Gill (cello) and Mary Dullea (piano) — return this year for their 10th anniversary Festival. Between the 25th and the 27th November, audiences will be treated to four fantastic concerts featuring old and new works from across the globe. From new music for piano trio and voice, to solo violin and electronics. From the European masterworks of Beethoven to a contemporary synthesis of classical, jazz and traditional African music. And from Amy Beach’s 1930s Boston to Martinů’s 1950s New York; this year’s concerts offer something for everyone.

A special feature of the 10th Festival is the two GlasDrum commissions based on poems by Thomas Kinsella and Seamus Heaney, which hang on the walls of Belvedere House as prints created by the local graphic studio. Áine Mallon and Deirdre McKay combine the piano trio with the voice and audiences will hear the amazing soprano Daire Halpin alongside Fidelio Trio in these remarkable world premieres. The renowned violist Reiad Chibah also joins Fidelio Trio for two concerts on Saturday 26th November, the first of which takes places in the enchanting National Botanic Gardens for our free lunchtime concert, ‘From Beethoven to Bennett’. As in previous years, Fidelio Trio work in partnership with the Contemporary Music Centre to support aspiring composers in their creative workshop. We also warmly welcome violinist Mollie Wrafter as the festival’s featured young artist, and look forward to her joining Fidelio Trio in Beethoven’s String Quartet in C minor Op. 18, No. 4.

For more information and to book tickets, follow the link to our Eventbrite page. All concerts are open seating so attendees are advised to arrive early to secure a preferred seat.

The Fidelio Trio Winter Chamber Music Festival is brought to you by GlasDrum in partnership with Music at DCU, with funding from the Arts Council Festivals Investment Scheme. The event is supported by RTÉ Supporting the Arts, and the Saturday lunchtime concert at the National Botanic Gardens by the Office of Public Works.
