‘Choral Postcards’ Young Composers’ Summer Project

‘Choral Postcards’ Young Composers’ Summer Project

Thursday, 1 July 2021, 10.00am

Throughout the month of July, a group of aspiring composers age 15-18 will have the opportunity to work remotely with professional composers and singers to create their own Choral Postcards—short pieces of music written for four-part choir, in a joint project with Chamber Choir Ireland and the Contemporary Music Centre.

On completion of the project, students will receive the recording of their work, performed by Chamber Choir Ireland, as well as their own piece of music printed on a Choral Postcard.

All sessions will be held via Zoom.

To apply, please send the following to [email protected]:

1. Any examples of music you’ve written, either for choir or any other instrument/combination of instruments
2. A note outlining your reasons for applying
3. A recommendation from your school music teacher, instrumental/vocal teacher, or choir conductor, outlining your capacity to be involved in a choral composition project with Chamber Choir Ireland

The closing date for applications is 5pm on Thursday 24th June. There is no fee to participate.
