An Evening of Youth Orchestra Performances

Come join the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras and Civic Trust House online from 6pm on Friday, 17 September as they host an evening of youth orchestra performances for Culture Night Cork City 2021.

The Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra, ConCorda Chamber Music Course for Strings and the Esker Festival Orchestra will all broadcast pre-recorded performances as part of the annual celebrations which will be free and easily accessible on the IAYO Facebook (www.facebook.com/iayo.ie) and YouTube (www.youtube/irishassocyouthorch).

The Irish Youth Baroque Orchestra will start the proceedings at 6pm, performing a programme of Purcell’s Fairy Queen & Lully’s Le Bourgeois Gentilhomme, Ballet des Nations which was recorded in July in St Ann’s Church, Dawson Street, Dublin.

Following this, at 7pm, ConCorda Chamber Music Course for Strings will present a selection of chamber music ensemble performances, recorded in August in Belvedere College, Dublin and MTU Cork School of Music.

To finish up this wonderful night of orchestral performances, at 8pm, the Esker Festival Orchestra conducted by EFO founder and director Peter Joyce will perform a varied programme of music including Ravel’s Le Tombeau des Couperin, Richard Wagner’s Siegfried Idyll and Haydn’s Symphony No. 104 in D Major.
