Belcea Quartet; Quatuor Ebène
Sunday, 16 January 2022, 7.30pm
Two of the world’s great quartets join together for two works – the superb and much loved Mendelssohn Octet, famously written when the prodigy was just 16 years old, and a much less familiar work by another exceptional musician. Violinist, pianist, conductor and teacher George Enescu is also widely regarded as Romania’s most significant composer; his Octet dates from 1900 but owing to its difficulty was not premièred until 1909.
