Fionn Regan

Fionn Regan

It’s perhaps not entirely uncommon for folk singers to be referred to as “their generation’s Bob Dylan”, (perhaps less common for it to be said by Lucinda Williams on stage at Town Hall in NYC) but there’s no real smoke without fire; you have to do something worthy of note to have people talking that way about you, and when he released his debut full-length, The End of History, back in 2006, that was how people were looking at Irish singer-songwriter Fionn Regan; the media seemed convinced that he was set to lead the charge insofar as a new wave of British folk was concerned, and indeed it also seemed that Regan had all the hallmarks of the genre’s past legends; part Dylan, part Nick Drake, his witty observational eye and keen ear for melody marked him out as a potential star of the future, with The End of History being nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.

Whether Mr. Regan will ultimately live up to that potential remains to be seen, but he has been prolific in the studio in the years since, releasing three albums between 2010 and 2012, he was sampled by Bon Iver on ‘22 a million’, before releasing 2017’s ‘The Meetings of the Waters’ album, whose title track has seen over 30 million streams on Spotify. Fionn released a beautiful new album “Cala” in 2019 which was received with 4 star reviews all round (4 stars The Irish Times, mojo, uncut, The guardian etc). This will be Fionn’s first live return to Limerick since 2012, and promises a very special evening, solo acoustic performance. Support from Aoife Nessa Francis.
