Selective Memory Presents: Christian Wethered at Bello Bar 18th March

Friday, 18 March 2022, 7.00pm

“Drawing influence from the legendary likes of Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed, Dublin-based singer-songwriter Christian Wethered is poised for major success on these shores and beyond, with the release of his debut album, Mon Petit Jardin, later his year” - Lucy O’Toole, Hotpress

Selective Memory announces a concert by Christian Wethered at Bello Bar on 18th March to promote his debut album, ‘Mon Petit Jardin’. He will be supported by Chris Wilson DC.

Having gained acclaim on the Irish music scene, first with the hauntingly ubiquitous single Mr Medicine Man, and later on the release of his album, this will be his first post-lockdown show.

As well as being an acclaimed musician, his debut poetry book, 'Harbour', also won the 2021 Melita Hume Prize. His lyrics are thus unique, and a vital part of his soundscape. In songs such as La Madeleine, he echoes Nick Cave and Serge Gainsbourg, traversing poetry, music, French and English, for a sound that is both contemporary and traditional in scope.

Speaking about the gig Christian said: “I can’t wait to play my first live gig in months, and to perform some of my newest songs. The album has a collective feel, which I’m hoping to bring to Bello Bar, alongside some of the acoustic ones.

Having picked up features in the likes of Hot Press and Golden Plec alongside radio play on RTE1, RTE Culture and Today FM, Christian Wethered has built a reputation for himself and an ever growing fanbase. With performances all over Ireland including at The Ruby Sessions, First Fortnight and Electric Picnic, Christian will be supporting the new single with a series of live dates over the coming months.
