The world-record breaking indie band The Pocket Gods are making their voices heard in their newest project, ‘The 30 Second Song Movie’, now streaming on Amazon Prime.

Shedding light upon the minimal royalties artists earn from their work being streamed via platforms such as Spotify, the film highlights the band’s campaign for fairer payments.

Having released their first 100x30 album in 2015, gaining the band a Guinness World Record for the most songs on a digital album, The Pocket Gods have since released 9 albums revolving around this 30-second song concept. Their recent 2022 album, ‘1000x30, Nobody Makes Money Anymore’ has superseded the band’s original world record and is currently the world’s biggest album in terms of tracks.

Despite attracting 1.2million Spotify streams to date for their 2022 album, the band have earned a startling £256 as a result of this. The solution may not yet be accessible, however, The Pocket Gods are avidly working to resolve this. The release of their album ‘Vegetal Digital’, which is only available via one vinyl copy, has been listed for £1million at their local record store, Empire Records. When sold, the funds from the album will allow the band to invest in their ethical streaming service, Nub Play, which centres its ethos around fairly paying artists (a minimum of 1p per stream).
