Dublin City Summer Chorale has established itself as one of the most musically fulfilling, enriching and joyful musical courses in Ireland for choral singers attracting the finest voices led by Duncan Brickenden with visiting specialist tutors in the choral and opera worlds recognised nationally and internationally. DCSC 2020 & 2021 were primarily delivered online with some wonderful outdoor, socially distanced performances in Merrion Square Park following the two month rehearsal & workshop period. Now, with the global pandemic receding and our love & hunger for singing in-person proceeding positively ahead, 2022 is going to be a very special year for DCSC.

1. This year, DCSC rehearsals will be held in St. Ann’s Church, Dawson St., Dublin 2 on Tuesdays 7-8.45pm

2. Rehearsals will be broadcast and recorded on ZOOM if you cannot attend in- person or if you miss a rehearsal

3. This year we will have new specialist vocal tutors but, in addition to this, we will also have speakers delivering talks on topics such as music therapy and the neuroscience of music.

4. Repertoire will include Tavener’s The Lamb, Naylor’s Vox Dicentis, Byrd’s Haec Dies, Casal’s O Vos Omnes and we will revisit a small selection of songs from 2020 & 2021 that we were not fully able to connect whilst online and indeed outdoors, and prepare and rehearse these to perform in their intended setting with an acoustic appropriate for the music. These will include songs such as When the Earth Stood Still by Don MacDonald, O Magnum Mysterium & Ave Maria by Victoria

5. The ability to read music is not compulsory but may encourage a more enjoyable experience

6. Line-tapes and other learning resources are created for all the music

7. The course will commence on Tuesday July 5th and will run for eight
consecutive Tuesdays culminating in a public performance on Sunday August
28th
