A vacancy has arisen for the position of CHOIR DIRECTOR for Encore Voices Choir

ABOUT:
The successful candidate will be responsible for directing our four-part choir (SATB), numbering approx. 50 members.
Encore Voices, in existence since 2015, rehearses weekly (September to May) on Wednesdays, 7.30pm – 9.30pm, with the support of a professional accompanist. We are based in Leeson Park, Ranelagh, Dublin. We perform two main concerts a year (February and May) with occasional other performances. Concerts may feature professional soloists and musicians where required.
The choir’s repertoire is both sacred and secular. Recent performances have included Dvorak’s Mass in D Major, Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater and a selection of songs from the Great American Songbook.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Experience of leading rehearsals, teaching vocal techniques and promoting high standards of performance.
• The ability to engage with and encourage choir members to develop their singing skills.
• Knowledge and experience of planning concert repertoire in conjunction with the Committee to provide the variety and challenge which will enthuse choir members and audiences.
• Experience of orchestral conducting.
• Excellent communication skills both with the Committee and choir members to help achieve a positive learning environment by fostering a positive and inclusive atmosphere within the choir, encouraging teamwork, camaraderie, and a shared passion for music.
