Ian Page and The Mozartists
Ian Page and The Mozartists make a return to live performance with their first post-pandemic concert at Cadogan Hall on 8 July showcasing a cross-section of works dating from the year 1771.
Mezzo-soprano Kitty Whately and harpsichordist Steven Devine re-join the group’s visionary MOZART 250 series as it enters its seventh year.
The concert offers an illuminating overview of the year 1771, featuring a selection of works composed and premiered exactly 250 years ago. This year’s programme includes an unauthenticated symphony attributed in Köchel’s catalogue to the 15-year-old Mozart, two vocal rarities by Mysliveček and Salieri, and a highly original concerto by C.P.E. Bach. The evening concludes with Haydn’s `Trauer’ symphony, whose elegiac slow movement the composer is said to have wanted to be played at his funeral.
