Doors 8pm | Show 9pm Tickets €20

Illegal Smile Ireland are a 5 piece band from Northern Ireland and are without doubt the foremost aficionados of John Prine’s music in Europe and the UK. The band have received standing ovations at all their concerts including The Belfast Guinness Blues Cafe, The Grand Social and Whelans Dublin.

They do not set out to look or even sound like John Prine rather they skilfully reproduce his songs with integrity, sincerity and with the musical skill listeners associate with John’s songs.

Barry Johnson fronts the band on acoustic guitar and vocals. He is well known for his love of artists such as John Prine, Guy Clark and Steve Earle and he plays in the Travis Picking Style so essential in giving this music it’s integrity. Superb guitarist, Sam Davidson's background is blues & American country. He brings subtle support and magnificent lead solos to the band. Singer, Ali Mooney, began her singing career in choirs and theatre productions and brings not only wonderful harmonies but she takes the lead in several songs and duets. From a blues and on occasions heavy metal background, bass player, Davi Neill is very much at home in bringing sweet bass lines to the ensemble. He provides excellent harmonies and sings out front as well. Drummer, Michael Conway comes from an Orchestral background, specialising in Timpani. Not only is he a superb drummer but he is one of Irelands finest percussionists and brings what can only be described as ‘magic’ to the show.
