Kings Place presents "Gavin Bryars at 80," a retrospective concert celebrating the British composer, featuring Phaedra Ensemble and Laura Jurd on Sun 1 Oct. The event showcases a selection of Bryars' iconic works, such as "The Sinking of the Titanic" and "A Man in a Room, Gambling," as well as the UK premiere of his fourth string quartet.

Phaedra Ensemble and Laura Jurd, an acclaimed jazz trumpeter and composer, perform an array of seminal works spanning four decades. Additionally, the concert includes a new commission from Jurd, reflecting on the music of Bryars and featuring her performance with the ensemble.

Originally from Yorkshire, Bryars has made significant contributions to British contemporary music, collaborating with notable artists such as Tom Waits, Brian Eno, and Aphex Twin. The performance, lasting approximately 1 hour 45 minutes, including an interval, is held in partnership with d&b Soundscape.
