Exhibitions, Learning & Programming Manager

National Library of Ireland is currently recruiting for our new Exhibitions, Learning & Programming Manager role, at Assistant Keeper, Grade 1 level.

The successful candidate for this exciting role will bring relevant sectoral experience and will have responsibility for managing exhibitions, learning and programming projects and activities across the NLI and the development of our new public programming spaces. This will include involvement in the development of the NLI’s historic West Wing as a public space and responsibility for the redevelopment, delivery and management of our new Yeats exhibition and other new exhibition, learning and public engagement spaces.

Qualifications:
• Third level degree in a relevant area, e.g. History, English Literature, Library, Archives, Museum
Studies, or equivalent.

Experience
Applicants must demonstrate:
1. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the library or cultural heritage sector, including management and delivery of large exhibitions or public-facing interpretive projects;
2. Excellent project management skills including ability to prioritise and schedule workloads in the face of conflicting demands;
3. Excellent track record of stakeholder relationship management and the ability to work well with others at all levels, including internal and external partners;
4. Excellent interpersonal skills including the ability to motivate, lead and develop staff;
5. Proven ability to work on own initiative and demonstrate sound judgement and decision-making when assessing risks
6. A knowledge and appreciation of Irish culture and heritage, and an understanding of the NLI’s role in supporting learning, scholarship and public engagement with Irish culture and heritage;
7. Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
8. Excellent Information Technology skills;
9. A creative and innovative approach to problem-solving and achieving objectives;
10. An interest and enthusiasm to work in the National Library of Ireland, and to raise awareness and advocate for exhibitions, learning and programming activity.
