Ode to Lad

Following the recent release of their duet album The Wavy Bow Collection John and James Carty will be holding a series of Zoom base workshops/information sessions supported by the Arts Council of Ireland. During these sessions they will focus on some of the material from the album The Wavy Bow Collection. The tunes will be broken down and gone through slowly illustrating unique stylistic traits and nuances. Also, the source, background and historical context will be explained. The sessions will be interactive allowing you to ask questions. The workshops are free and open to musicians of an intermediate standard as well as to anybody who would just be interested in learning a little about the origins and sources of the tunes. Attendance is capped at 20, participants and spaces will be allocated on a first come first served basis. Once you have booked, a Zoom link will be emailed to you.

Workshop 1 Ode to Lad - Sunday November 22nd at 2pm. During the first session James will be focusing on some of the music inspired by James Lad O’Beirne , the famed fiddle player from Killavil, Co. Sligo who spent many years in New York but never commercially recorded.
