Festival of Voice 2019 Vocal Competition

Northern Ireland Opera are now accepting applications for the Vocal Competition and Peter Rankin Pianist Internship at this year’s Festival of Voice, taking place in Glenarm, County Antrim from Thursday 29th August to Sunday 1st September 2019.

Five finalists will have the opportunity to work on their repertoire with opera professionals from Thursday 29th August and attend all festival events before competing in the Gala Final on Sunday 1st September for the Deborah Voigt Opera Prize before a distinguished jury.

The festival’s vocal competition is open to singers aged 18-28 born in Northern Ireland or the Republic of Ireland, and entrants are required to be studying voice at 3rd level or privately and pursuing a career in opera.

Singers are required to submit two arias, one Baroque or Classical, and one of their own choice which should be in two different languages (one of which may be English). A song composed or arranged by an Irish composer of the 20th or 21st century is also required and CDs or MP3 files should be accompanied by a short CV
