BBC Radio 6 Music is seeking an Assistant Commissioner.

You will work closely with the Head of Station for 6 Music to deliver and commission a broad range of diverse content from suppliers. You will also balance editorial excellence with all compliance and budgetary requirements. You will also help manage and foster relationships with on air talent in all its diversity and to be aware of emerging talent You will also act as a key contact for suppliers during the development and production process, offering advice and guidance on the BBC’s commissioning requirements, and upholding 6 Music’s reputation for quality and high standards.

Are you the right candidate?
In addition to a passion and knowledge of the range of music and content programmed on 6 Music, you will also need a deep knowledge of social and digital platforms and an understanding of how to further drive 6 Music to BBC Sounds. A strong awareness and knowledge of the wider radio and music industry is essential along with an understanding of the importance of creative diversity in all its forms.

You will have the ability to manage and nurture talent relationships with a clear sense of where new on and off air talent could be found from a diverse range of sources. You will also have the ability to be project manage, where appropriate, and with multiple stake holders. A keen interest and understanding of the commissioning process and experience of creating and developing digital content are desirable.
