Cork Opera House are currently recruiting for the position of Duty Manager to join the House Management team in a fast paced theatre, with a varied programme of events (both in house produced and touring). This is a full time position. The Duty Manager will report directly to the House Manager and Deputy House Manager.

Experience/Skills required:

Experience in a customer facing role, ideally in management, is a requirement.
Ability to lead and motivate a large team.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to identify and resolve potential issues before they escalate.
Must have the ability to multitask.
Ability to work under time pressures.

Duties will include but are not limited to:

Ensuring a safe environment for both staff and patrons. Carrying out house checks prior to performances to ensure all fire exits are clear and all areas are clean and presentable. Providing an efficient and welcoming service to patrons, artists and promoters. Handling any safety concerns that may arise and managing any outcome that may result. Sending completed incident report forms to the relevant Managers in a timely manner. Making sure all health & safety and licencing laws are adhered to and becoming a member of the Health & Safety committee. Ordering and maintaining first aid supplies for the building and carrying out weekly checks on boxes and defib. unit.
Managing and motivating a large front of house team. Assisting in the recruitment and training of staff. Assisting the Management team in rostering staff efficiently and within payroll budgets. Managing security & cleaning personnel who may be contracted to work during certain performances. Working closely with the technical, box office & bar departments in delivering the best service we can offer to patrons during performances.
Ensuring the shop and merchandise stands are fully stocked. Signing off on takings from both areas and carrying out bank lodgements.
Managing and where possible, resolving any complaints that may arise from patrons, artists, staff or promoters.
Working with the House Management team ensuring required house department maintenance is carried out efficiently and assisting in the planning of future projects concerning front of house areas.
Looking after promoters and arranging hospitality requirements as per contracts.
Completing any administrative duties requested by the House Manager/ Deputy House Manager.
Covering additional duties during times of annual leave.
