Assistant Professor - Music
The music program at Baruch College, CUNY, seeks a promising scholar with a strong commitment to teaching, currently completing or having recently attained the Ph.D. in musicology, for a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2020. All degree requirements must be met by the beginning of the 2020-2021 academic year. The rank is at the Assistant Professor level.
The faculty member will teach a variety of courses in music history and literature to a diverse student body including music majors and music minors. Other responsibilities may include directing undergraduate research projects, advisement, and the like.
The successful candidate is expected to conduct a scholarly agenda with significant publications and conference presentations, and to engage in other activities within the profession.
The faculty member will be an active participant in departmental and college-level committees and will share responsibility for academic governance, which may include curricular development and program review.
Qualifications:
Ph.D. degree in area(s) of experience or equivalent. Also required are the ability to teach successfully, demonstrated scholarship or achievement, and ability to cooperate with others for the good of the institution.
