Festival of Voice is a weekend festival celebrating the power, beauty and universality of the human voice.

Join a host of balladeers from Dublin traditional singing collective ‘The Night Before Larry Got Stretched’ for an evening of Dublin ‘slang’ songs. The journey will comprise a series of street ballads from the late 18th century, written (either wholly or partially) in ‘The Newgate Cant’, a prison slang spoken by the criminal underworld of 1770s Dublin. Expect songs on public executions, the stealing of May bushes, and the story of a Dublin’s street criminal’s rise from the dead.

Festival of Voice will include a series of pop-up events
· Morning Songs – a song to start the day
· Songs of the Liberties – a collective participative choir event celebrating the songs of the city
· Puccini in the Pub – Puccini over a pint…
We will announce details of pop-up events in the run-up to the festival

Presented by NCH and supported by IPUT Real Estate Dublin
