Children’s Books Ireland is seeking a Publications Officer to support the creation of various publications, including Inis magazine, an annual reading guide, and themed reading lists. The successful candidate will work closely with the whole team and liaise with the Irish and international publishing industry. They will process book submissions for review and consideration for the KPMG Children’s Books Ireland Awards, and create recommended reading lists on specific themes, as well as updating existing reading lists to ensure they are up-to-date with the latest high-quality books available.

The role will involve taking over the role of reviews editor for Inis magazine and commissioning interviews and features for the magazine, managing and training volunteer reviewers, overseeing book selection, and writing reviews and other content for partner media outlets. The Publications Officer will also work closely with the Oifigeach Gaeilge on all content as Gaeilge across all publications.

The successful candidate must be a self-starter with strong organisational skills and the ability to prioritise and balance multiple demands in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills and extensive knowledge and passion for children’s books are essential, along with meticulous attention to detail, digital literacy, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a small, creative, fast-paced team.

Desirable skills include proficiency in written and spoken Irish and experience working in the arts, charity, or publishing sectors. The role reports to the Deputy CEO and is based in central Dublin, with the flexibility of hybrid working. The working hours are flexible between 8 a.m. and 5.30 p.m., with occasional evening or weekend work required. The salary for this permanent position is €30,000 per annum, with 25 days’ annual leave, a 5% matching pension contribution, and a mobile phone allowance and work from home payment provided.
