Assistant Learning and Public Engagement Curator (part time)
The Butler Gallery is hiring a Assistant Learning and Public Engagement Curator to work three days a week.
Duties and Responsibilities
– To assist the Learning and Public Engagement Curator in researching, devising, curating and producing a compelling programme of Learning and Public Engagement events at Butler Gallery, and occasionally off-site
– To deliver the strategic priorities of the Learning and Public Engagement Strategy 2020-2024
– To contribute to future L&PE curatorial strategy and participative approaches at Butler Gallery
– To work with L&PE Curator in implementing all aspects of the L&PE activities and events programme, including but not limited to programmes for schools and teachers, children, youth and adult learning programmes, family events, exhibition and collection related events, artists residencies, artists talks, access programmes and assistive technology, national and international engagement events, artists film programme and special projects
The Successful Candidate will have:
– An extensive knowledge of learning, public engagement and participative art practices
– A demonstrable capacity to curate and produce art programmes with a public institution
– Experience of working with artists, particularly in the areas of collaboration, participation or learning environments
– The capacity to work as part of a team or to be self-directed, as necessary
– Excellent interpersonal skills
– Excellent writing and communication skills
– Excellent administration and project management skills
