Scholarships Available with the Lassus Scholars

Friday, 31 July 2015, 5.00pm

Scholarship Places and General Membership opportunities are available in all parts with Dublin Choral Foundation’s Lassus Scholars.

The ensemble, which was established in 1996, provides Irish singers with a high-quality music education, allowing members to enhance their sight-singing and musicianship, undertake prominent solo work, improve ensemble skills and tour the world, performing some of the most beautiful choral music in the repertoire. Performances have taken the ensemble all over the world, including Italy, France, USA, UK, Russia and Spain, with venue highlights such as the National Concert Hall in Dublin and Westminster Cathedral in London.

The Lassus Scholars is a fun, social and hardworking choir. We are currently looking for new members in all voice parts and hope that you will consider being a part of our future, as we embark on our 20th anniversary celebrations in 2016.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year 16 scholarships (€1,250 per annum) are awarded to talented singers from within the ensemble, equivalent to those offered by collegiate choirs. Perhaps you are looking for a stepping stone in your pursuit or a career in choral music? In 2015, Dublin Choral Foundation will launch its new professional choral ensemble, Lassus. Being a member of the Lassus Scholars can prepare you for the competitive professional choral world. Or maybe you are taking your career in a different direction but wish to continue singing to a high level with a vibrant and active choir. Either way, if you are passionate about singing, The Lassus Scholars could be the ideal creative outlet for you. Between September and June the scholarship group meets twice a week at St Kevin’s Church Hall, Harrington Street to rehearse:

Tuesdays 6.45 — 7.45pm

Thursdays 6.45 — 7.45pm

GENERAL MEMBERSHIP

The Lassus Scholars also offers general membership opportunities to those unable to make the commitment of two rehearsals per week. General members receive many of the benefits offered to scholarship members, with a less intensive rehearsal and performance schedule. General members are expected to attend rehearsals on Thursdays between 6.45 and 7.45pm.

Auditions for the 2015/16 season will take place in August. If you would like to arrange an audition or have any questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch via aoife [at] dublinchoralfoundation.ie / 01 9036211.
