Head of Woodwind
The Royal Academy of Music is seeking to appoint a new Head of Woodwind to succeed Keith Bragg, who is stepping down in January 2021 after a tenure of 19 successful years leading the Department.
The next Head of Woodwind will build on the Academy’s achievements, maintaining the Department’s reputation in a time of great change for the musical world. This will require charismatic leadership, strategic imagination, and the ability to manage a cohesive and purposeful team of distinguished musicians and teachers and to instil an ethos of mutual support and ambition in the department.
You will be a performer of outstanding calibre, and a proven teacher and trainer of woodwind players at the highest level as well as an experienced and demanding ensemble director and coach.
You will work closely with the Deputy Principal and other heads of departments to enhance the overall work of the Academy in solo performance, orchestral projects and chamber music. You will also be an outward-looking ambassador for the department and the Academy, who can recruit the very best students and staff.
Completed applications must be received by 10am on Monday 9 November 2020. First round interviews are expected to be held in the week commencing 16 November.
