Expressions of Interest for the Festival Orchestra

Expressions of Interest for the Festival Orchestra

Friday, 29 November 2019, 5.00pm

Saturday, 8 February 2020 will see the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras’ 25th Festival of Youth Orchestras in the National Concert Hall. To mark this special occasion, IAYO is once again establishing a Festival Orchestra which will have young musicians from across Ireland and will be conducted by Tom Crowley.

Expressions of Interest for the Festival Orchestra

We are seeking expressions of interest from young musicians who may be suitable for the Festival Orchestra. Players must be of a Grade IV+ standard. Closing date for expressions of interest is Friday, 29 November. We anticipate that, at that stage, some instruments will be oversubscribed so please note that not everyone can get a place.

To submit your expression of interest, please contact the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras, Civic Trust House, Pope’s Quay, Cork on 021 421 5185 or info [at] iayo.ie with your name, instrument and grade.

Repertoire
The repertoire for the Festival Orchestra will include Aisling by Declan Townsend, Aus der Distanz by Katharina Baker, Can-Can (Galop infernal, Act 3) by Jacques Offenbach and Dreaming in Sign Language by Sam Perkin (commissioned for the 20th Festival of Youth Orchestras in 2015). Dreaming in Sign Language will be choreographed by an experienced youth dance practitioner.
