Traditional Irish Music Night with trio Caoimhín Ó Fearghail, Dónal Clancy & Paddy Tutty

Caoimhín Ó Fearghail is a multi-instrumentalist who comes from An Rinn in the west Waterford Gaeltacht. He started to learn the tin-whistle and uilleann pipes at an early age and is mostly self-taught on flute, guitar & bouzouki. He is greatly influenced by the many great traditional musicians and singers from his home area, as well as numerous others he has met all over the country and abroad. Archival recordings have also been a huge influence. Caoimhín was recently awarded Best Folk Instrumentalist in the RTÉ Radio 1 Folk Awards.

Dónal Clancy is regarded as one of Ireland’s finest guitarists. He is the son of the world renowned singer Liam Clancy of The Clancy Brothers and Tommy Makem and since the death of his father, Dónal has focused his attention on the family repertoire of songs that he grew up with, while keeping the Clancy tradition alive with his solo performances.
Dónal grew up in a household and community steeped in music. He spent his early childhood in Canada and the US before his family settled back in An Rinn, Co. Waterford in 1983. His father gave him his first guitar at the age of eight and he was playing professionally by his early teens. A founder member of the group Danú,

Paddy Tutty was born in 1981 and comes from Dungarvan, in west Waterford. Paddy’s musical start in life was a little later than most to say the least, as he didn’t actually start playing until he was seventeen. Coming from a musical family, Paddy remembers his grandfather, the late Tommy Norris playing the fiddle when he was growing up, along with constant Irish music being played on the radio at home. This was certainly a massive inspiration to him from an early age, however Paddy was never pushed into music and thankfully this seemed to make him work even harder when he finally did start.
Paddy is self-taught on bodhrán, fiddle, banjo and upright double bass.
