Manchester Collective: The Oracle

Sunday, 24 April 2022, 4.00pm

Music makes time-travellers of us all... In this brand-new show, South African cellist and composer Abel Selaocoe and Manchester Collective present a thrilling musical journey that spans continents and generations, past and future.

Music connects us to the past, to the land, to ancestors and to forgotten songs. Long before we ever knew we were listening, our mothers, fathers and carers comforted us through song. In the beginning, music is family.

Featuring stories and original compositions by Abel, alongside music by Jean-Philippe Rameau, Igor Stravinsky and Mica Levi, The Oracle is a show about connection. It’s music at its most joyful and life-affirming.

Known for their experimental programming and daring collaborations, Manchester Collective perform a combination of cutting-edge contemporary music, classical masterpieces and staged work in venues – from concert halls to warehouses, nightclubs to festivals.
