The RTÉ Concert Orchestra presents a night of masterpieces featuring two extraordinary talents. Making his RTÉ CO debut is the charismatic Spanish conductor Sergio Alapont, and we welcome back stunning young Irish violinist Patrick Rafter.

Mendelssohn’s evocative Hebrides overture opens the evening. Then Rafter will show the audience just why he was invited to study and perform duets with superstar Maxim Vengerov when he joins the RTÉ CO for Mendelssohn’s gloriously melodic Violin concerto, one of the greatest ever written.

Bringing the evening to a thrilling climax is Beethoven’s Seventh Symphony, which he thought one of his best works, sweeping listeners along right through from the famously beautiful Allegretto to the headlong exuberance of the finale.
