Laoise Kelly, Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn & Stéphanie Makem

Saturday, 19 March 2022, 8.30pm

Stiúideo Cuan are delighted to open our new live music venue in An Spidéal, Co Galway with a season of 12 concerts by leading traditional musicians every fortnight starting on the Bank Holiday weekend of 18 & 19 March with harper Laoise Kelly, piper Tiarnán Ó Duinchinn & singer Stéphanie Makem.

Laoise Kelly & Tiarnán Ó Duinnchinn are a rare duet of Irish Harp and Uilleann Pipes. Their acclaimed album ‘Ar Lorg na Laochra’ | ‘On the Shoulders of Giants’ pays homage to the source of their repertoire, encompassing many of the various tune and song air types to be found in 17th-19th century manuscripts from different parts of Ireland.

From Co. Armagh, Stéphanie's singing is deeply rooted in a long lineage of singers, stretching back to her great grandmother who was the celebrated Ulster folksinger Sarah Makem and indeed, to her granduncle, Tommy Makem.

Starved of live music experiences for over 18 months, this exciting concert series provides a wonderful opportunity for local and national audiences to feed heart and soul with the best of traditional music, performed by some of the best musicians in the business in this wonderful new arts and music centre – Stiúideo Cuan. Our beautiful, architecturally-designed live room seats 65 so tickets are limited. Early booking advised. This concert series will be streamed live online.

Stiúideo Cuan is a flagship venue, recording studio & creative centre for the traditional and contemporary arts in An Spidéal, Conamara. Our newly-refurbished facility with full bar and intimate live room overlooking Galway Bay is set to restore this Conamara village’s reputation as a Mecca for traditional music.

Bígí linn don oíche speisialta ceoil agus amhránaíochta seo i seomra álainn ceoil Stiúideo Cuan.

Curtha i láthair le cúnamh ón gComhairle Ealaíon & Ealaín na Gaeltachta.
