Scottish Opera is hiring a Chorus Master.

The Chorus Master holds a key artistic and management role within Scottish Opera and has responsibility to audition, engage and prepare singers for each chorus to contribute to the work of the Company and to help deliver its artistic vision.

The ideal candidate will be a music graduate, have experience in managing a professional opera chorus and must have extensive knowledge of the operatic repertoire. Keyboard skills to a professional repetiteur level and an understanding of voices are essential, considerable experience of choral conducting, and a working knowledge of languages, especially Italian, French and German are required. The candidate should understand the working practices of large theatres and it is essential that they are a proficient English speaker with good oral and written communication skills. Proven organisational and strong leadership skills are also necessary.

The position is based in Scottish Opera’s premises in central Glasgow, but evening work and travel within Scotland will be required.
