Freelance Facilitator
#LoveToDraw Ireland

Across the UK and the Republic of Ireland there are approximately 63,000 voluntary arts groups, regularly involving more than 10 million people participating voluntarily in creative cultural activities: this activity is, and will continue to be, a critical part of both the bedrock and the grass roots of the cultural life of our communities and nations.

Voluntary Arts was created in 1991, in response to a need identified by government and the voluntary arts sector, to provide a universal voice for the voluntary arts across the UK and the Republic of Ireland. We provide information and advice services, undertake lobbying and advocacy work and deliver, and support the delivery of projects to develop participation in creative cultural activities.

Our support is particularly focused on those creative citizens who – beyond their own participation and beyond any remuneration – give their time to make such activity more available within their communities (of locality and interest) and to improve the quality and range of those opportunities and activities.

Following a successful application to the Arts Council of Ireland, Voluntary Arts Ireland is now recruiting a Freelance Facilitator to coordinate the #LoveToDraw Ireland project. #LoveToDraw Ireland is modelled in part on elements of the successful Drawn Together project led by Voluntary Arts Wales and Coast Lines (see: http://drawntogether.wales/).

The project will involve recruiting artists, organising drawing workshops across three counties of Ireland in May 2020 and celebrating the outcomes of the workshops in an exhibition at the Glucksman Gallery Cork during November 2020.

We are looking for someone who has an excellent network of contacts and who can demonstrate ability to:

● Work in effective collaboration with arts and cultural organisations, local authorities and community groups.
● Organise drawing workshops with partner organisations.
● Support exhibitions in local galleries.
● Monitor and evaluate the project, ensuring that the effects and outcomes of projects are captured for reporting back to the Arts Council of Ireland.
● Organise project steering group meetings.
● Promote workshops to specific target groups.
● Deliver projects against a tight timeframe.

Ability to undertake English-Irish translation of materials would be an advantage

We will be offering a fixed fee of €6,000 based on €250 per day (24 days between January - December 2020) plus any agreed travel related expenses.

The Freelance Facilitator will report directly to the Chief Executive of Voluntary Arts.

If you feel that you have the enthusiasm and skills to deliver this project then please forward a copy of your CV to Lindsey Jackson [email protected]. If you would like an informal, confidential discussion about the post prior to applying please contact Robin Simpson, Voluntary Arts Chief Executive [email protected].
