Esker Festival Orchestra, Galway
The Esker Festival Orchestra, Ireland’s most exciting and established peer-led orchestra, will return this August for its annual residential and summer tour. This summer, the orchestra will have a high-intensity week-long residential course in the beautiful surrounds of NUI Galway which will culminate in a performance in the Emily Anderson Concert Hall, NUI Galway on Thursday, 8 August at 8pm.
This year's programme will include Prokofiev's Symphony No. 1 "Classical", Kodaly's Dances of Galanta, Richard Strauss' Horn Concerto No. 2 featuring Hannah Miller as soloist (Julliard School of Music, Kuopio Symphony Orchestra) and the World Premiere of Water Music by young Irish Composer Donagh Marnane.
This unique orchestra, which is entirely led and run by its members, will be conducted by Paul McCusker (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland, winner of the Hugh S. Roberton prize and the 2018 Feis Ceoil Conducting Competition).
Tickets are €15 / €10 and are available on the night of each concert and at eskerfestivalorchestra.com.
