Open Call: Public Art Panel 2021–2024

Sunday, 22 August 2021, 11.55pm

Cork County Council invites applications from artists, designers and craft makers for a place on the Cork County Council Housing Public Art Panel 2021 – 2024. This will lead to public art commissions funded by the Department of Housing, Local Government and Heritage as part of Rebuilding Ireland.

Commissions will range from €6,500 to €60,000 including VAT. Cork County Council welcomes emerging and established artists from anywhere, in all artforms, designers and craft makers. Applications from individuals, collectives and organisations will be accepted.

Applicants will be selected for the Cork County Council Housing Public Art Panel based on artistic excellence, community engagement and placemaking strategies, track record and potential to develop commissions. Artists, designers and craft makers on the panel may be invited to develop art commission proposals for the following capital projects in 2021-24 across seven locations in County Cork. The resulting commissions will include new temporary, permanent and ephemeral artworks, events and projects created in response to the specific context of each commission.

Commissions will aim to enhance the area by creating or reflecting a sense of identity or interests that holds meaning amongst local communities. Commissioned artworks, projects and events will promote and encourage community engagement. Several of the commissions will call for socially engaged, co-created or community-centred projects.
