Esker Festival Orchestra will perform Holst's incredible suite 'The Planet' in the majestic Galway Cathedral.

The concert will feature Gustav Holst’s incredible suite ‘The Planets’ and a newly commissioned ‘Earth, the Cradle of Life’ movement by Dublin based composer Tom Lane which will complete this suite. The programme includes Edward Elgar’s Cello Concerto in E minor with rising Irish star Zoë Nagle as soloist.

The programme will also include a new orchestration of Arnold Schoenberg’s ‘Six Little Piano Pieces’ to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the composer who inspired Holst to compose ‘The Planets.’ The performance will feature the 90 piece Esker Festival Orchestra and the Esker Festival Choir, all under the baton of founder and prize winning conductor Peter Joyce.
