Andy Irvine & Dónal Lunny, Radie Peat, The Mary Wallopers, Maija Sofia and Sorcha Ní Scolaí will perform songs of love, loss and longing in COVID times live-streamed direct from the stage of the National Concert Hall Dublin as part of the MusicTown 2020 in programme in association with Dublin City Council and Foggy Notions.

Andy Irvine & Dónal Lunny have been intrinsically and telepathically connected as musicians since the late 1960s. They performed together in the ground-breaking trad-folk ensemble Planxty (with Christy Moore and the late Liam O'Flynn) mesmerizing audiences with their famed mandolin-bouzouki interplay. Irvine joined Paul Brady in 1977 to create the seminal Andy Irvine Paul Brady folk document on Mulligan Records, and Dónal joined the breath-taking collective known as The Bothy Band, and later groups Moving Hearts, Coolfin, Mozaik, as well as producing and contributing to records by everyone from Mark Knopfler to Kate Bush. The duo remain both active and revered influences on generations of adventurous folk musicians around the world.

Radie Peat is a member of contemporary trad-folk band Lankum whose critically acclaimed third album The Livelong Day won the Choice Music Prize in 2019. Radie, who performs lead vocals, harmonium other instruments for Lankum, was awarded Best Folk Singer in the RTE Folk Music Awards in 2018, while the band won Best Group. The band also won Best Original Song and Best Group in the 2018 BBC Radio 2 Folk Awards. The Guardian described The Livelong Day "as a folk album influenced by the ambient textures of Sunn O))) and Swans, plus the sonic intensity of Xyloris White and My Bloody Valentine." This is a rare solo appearance from Radie.

The Mary Wallopers are a folk group from Dundalk. Travelling the length & breadth of the country singing and collecting songs, they exude a raw energy that could be described as the Clancy Brothers meet John Lydon. Utilizing DIY culture, a strong sense of satire and political awareness, they have become something of a sensation constantly selling out venues and hitting huge numbers on their home live-streams.

Maija Sofia is a singer, writer and recording artist from rural Galway. Her debut album Bath Time was described as "a collection of songs exploring the female experience throughout art, history and folklore"; it was nominated for the prestigious Choice Music Prize in 2019.

13 year old Sorcha Ní Scolaí is an uileann piper and sean nós singer from Drumcondra in Dublin. She attends classes at Na Píobairí Uilleann (NPU) in Dublin and has won All Ireland titles on Uillean Pipes and Slow Airs. In the past two years Sorcha's has come to international attention, with videos of various performances reaching over a million views. In 2019 she featured with much critical acclaim, on the Rolling Wave Seamus Ennis Centenary programme for RTE Radio 1.
