Scottish Opera presents: Puccini's Tosca

Saturday, 26 October 2019, 7.15pm

1940s’ Rome, in the shadow of Mussolini’s tyrannical rule…

Floria Tosca – a smart and passionate woman – attempts to free her lover from the clutches of Baron Scarpia, the lecherous, power-mad Chief of Police. As the stakes get higher she is faced with an impossible choice – will her hopes be crushed or can love win out?

Beautiful arias and rousing musical moments pepper Puccini’s score, bringing Tosca’s emotional extremes into sharp relief. Director Anthony Besch’s shadowy setting further heightens the drama while Peter Rice’s sumptuous designs provide a spectacular backdrop.
