This epic series continues with a magical combination of Nos 6 ("Le matin'), 7 ("Le midi") and 8 ("Le soir") - the first three symphonies he composed for his new employer in the spring of 1761, shortly after joining Prince Paul II Anton Esterházy's court. Haydn found an orchestra of extraordinary ability in Eisenstadt, and when Prince Paul gave him three times of day as a theme for composition he responded with works that showcase the orchestra and highlight the virtuosity of all its principal players.
