Sound Pioneers Open Call
We’re working with Yorkshire Sound Women Network to find 6 early-career women and gender minority composers interested in creating boundary-pushing new work for multi-channel audio as part of their Sound Pioneers programme.

We’re working with Yorkshire Sound Women Network to find 6 composers interested in creating boundary-pushing new work for multi-channel audio as part of their Sound Pioneers programme, taking place across 2020.

A professional development programme for early-career women and gender minority composers, Sound Pioneers will support the creation of boundary-pushing new work for multi-channel audio as part of paid residencies at the University of Huddersfield and the University of Hull during 2020.

With six places available, the programme is open to women and gender minorities from any part of the UK. The selected composers will undertake a five-day residency making use of cutting-edge music facilities to create music for either Huddersfield’s 48-channel/66-loudspeaker HISS system, or Hull’s Ambisonic Studio. They will also receive specialist mentoring and coaching support and enjoy a high-profile performance opportunity for each new work.
