Workshop: Cello in traditional music – Neil Martin @ Belfast TradFest Winter Weekend

These classes will take a broad approach to the use of cello outside of it’s usual “classical” world. Areas covered will included the fundamentals of harmonic accompaniment through to the cello as both a chamber and solo instrument within the Irish tradition.
Belfast-born Neil Martin is a composer and musician with an international reputation, whose work has been performed across the world from Ground Zero to Mostar Bridge and the Royal Albert Hall, as well as being played on the International Space Station. A cellist and an uilleann piper, he has worked with many leading musicians, both on stage and in the studio including Liam O'Flynn, Bryn Terfel, Barry Douglas, LSO, RPO, all the principle orchestras in Ireland, Christy Moore, Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin, The Dubliners, The Chieftains, Altan, Shaun Davey, Mary Black and Donal Lunny.
Fee includes admission to all programme events except for evening Concerts, Walking Tour, Trad Quiz and Trad Trail
