Streamed from Kylemore Abbey, a cracking programme of well-loved classics will open our festival, featuring the Irish Chamber Orchestra, directed by French cellist Marc Coppey, who will be joined by one of his former students at the Paris Conservatoire and a true rising star: the young Dublin cellist Christopher Ellis.
Before this we hear the world premiere performance of a newly-commissioned work for the Galway Cello by Bill Whelan: ‘Fragments’ will be performed by Galway cellist Naomi Berrill on the Galway Cello – the very first time this instrument will be performed in public.
