Anúna (Ireland) @ Cork International Choral Festival 2021

Thursday, 29 April 2021, 8.00pm

Globally renowned as one of the world’s finest choral groups, ANÚNA is a stellar example of all that is pure and honest in Irish tradition.

ANÚNA have been associated with the Cork International Choral Festival since their first visit in 1990. Since then the group have become the best known vocal ensemble that Ireland has produced. Founder, Artistic Director and composer for ANÚNA Michael McGlynn is delighted to be associated with the Festival in 2021.

"When Peter Stobart asked me if we would be interested in returning to the Festival this year, even if only in virtual form, I immediately jumped at the opportunity. Both myself as composer and the ensemble have long been associated with the Cork Choral Festival, and I thought it would be a chance to portray that legacy on film. We have put together a programme of ANÚNA repertoire but tied this together with the story of our associations with the Festival. The film features interviews and a selection of live material, some of which has never been publicly seen before. I am delighted we can be part of the 2021 programme and hopefully, it won't be long until we can return to Cork in person."
